Daytona Pig Stand Is Worth the Stop on I-95
Are you traveling south on I-95 this summer? Looking for some good barbecue along the way? If you are you need to stop by the Daytona Pig Stand. This barbecue restaurant is right up the road in Daytona Florida, exit 273. It is just in front of the Daytona Harley-Davidson dealership. Lots of bikers stop by this place but don’t let that stop you. They serve up some pretty serious barbecue. And it is very popular place by the size of the crowds.
We stopped there on our way to Tampa because we look out for different barbecue restaurants along the route. If you read this blog you’ve seen other restaurant reviews. We make a point to check out as many places as we can. This particular restaurant was a good find. The Daytona Pig Stand ribs were tender and sweet just the right amount of smoke. And the portions were good also. The menu was very typical of barbecue restaurants but they had a few things that you don’t see all the time in the restaurants in Georgia and North Carolina. I like their smoked sausage plate which is more typical of what you see in Texas. The potato salad wasn’t bad and it did a very good job on collard greens. I especially liked their homemade banana pudding.
Now as with most barbecue restaurants this is not a very fancy place but it is a little bit higher caliber than most of the mom-and-pop operations that you see in the South. The prices aren’t bad here either so you can get a pretty good meal for very reasonable cost. I definitely think that the Daytona Pig Stand is worth the visit if you find yourself on I-95 just outside of Florida in a little place called Ormond Beach.
